This collection consists of five boxes of materials related to Galand Nield's experiences during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. The materials contained in the collection are a typescript and cassette recording of an oral history interview of Galand Nield's Vietnam experience, letters of correspondence written mainly by Nield while serving in the military from 1969-1971, and typescript of "Compilation of Letters to My Wife," by Galand Nield.

The first box contains the typescript and cassette tape recording of the interview conducted in July of 2003 regarding Nield's time served in the Vietnam War. The rest of the materials in the first box are letters of correspondence between Nield and his family during the years from 1969-1971.

The second box contains "Compilation of Letters to My Wife," a typescript created by Galand Nield based on his own correspondence. The remainder of the collection contains letters of correspondence between Galand and his fiancé/wife, along with a few letters of correspondence between his wife's family and friends from 1969-1971.
