This collection contains ten journals that record the experiences of Thurlow Smith and Mary LaRene Butler. These journals, which date from 1955 to 1958 and 1983 to 1996, document the Smiths’ daily lives and their LDS mission to Charleston, West Virginia. Box 1 contains the journals, arranged chronologically by author, while Box 2 contains loose materials originally inserted within the pages of the journals. The book number and date associated with the loose materials indicate the place in the journal where author had originally inserted them. These loose materials were removed for preservation purposes.
