Scope and Contents
This collection consists chiefly of articles, correspondence, notes, and publications pertaining to, as well as drafts and copies of West's book; The National Education Association: A Power Base for Education published in 1980, which concerned equality, desegregation of teachers' associations in South, political action for teachers' rights, the NEA-AFT merger attempt, and the history of the NEA. This collection also contains a biographical file on West, writings, speeches, personal artifacts such as plaques, certificates, and diplomas, and cassette recordings of interviews conducted by West.
