Scope and Contents
The Leonard J. Arrington photograph collection consists mainly of photographs Arrington collected for his numerous publications. Many of these photographs are images related to Mormon economics in the nineteenth century including early L.D.S entrepreneurs, Utah businesses, agriculture, beet sugar, and logging. Also included in the collection are photographs relating to general L.D.S. history such as pioneers, forts, Utah towns, the Salt Lake City Valley, and L.D.S. leaders. Many of these images are photographs of early woodcut illustrations. Finally there is an assortment of carte-de-visites and studio portraits as well as Arrington family photographs. Most of the images in the collection are copies from institutions such as the L.D.S. Church Archives, the Utah Historical Society, the Idaho Historical Society, and the Huntington Library.
