Sale of land from Henry Prine to Francis Mieir, 1875
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a journal, typed accounts, and land grants related to Albert Augustine. The journal is an account of Albert Augustine’s wagon train journey across the U.S. in 1855 that was written by Loring Samuel Comstock. There were two copies made of the journal, one originally owned by L. J. Augustine, the other by Mrs. Genevieve Hazard. A typed transcript was made for each copy of the journal and both are included in this collection. The transcript made from the copy owned by L. J. Augustine is titled Wagon Train Log Book with a biographical note about the Augustine family at the end. The other transcript is titled A Journal of Travels Across the Plains in the Year 1855, and has papers with additional information provided by Dorothy Gahring Clark. The bulk of the collection is comprised of land grants owned by Augustine and Mieirs dating from 1847 to 1855. The most interesting part of the collection is the journal.
