Content Description
This collection contains materials transferred from the Western Folklife Center (WFC) documenting contemporary cowboy poetry, ranching culture, and folklife across the American West. Materials include audio and video recordings, photographs, printed programs, posters, ephemera, and files related to the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and associated WFC projects. The collection captures performances, workshops, interviews, educational initiatives, and community traditions from the late twentieth century to the early twenty-first century. Additional materials reflect regional ranching life, occupational traditions, gear-making, horsemanship, and cultural exchanges across the Great Basin and Intermountain West. The collection preserves a wide range of voices and offers insight into contemporary Western vernacular arts, identity, and community practice.
