Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection contains the papers of the Woodland Family of Richmond, Utah, dating from 1930 to 2005. The papers consist mostly of scrapbooks and correspondence material relating to Reed Woodland, Thelma Woodland, and their son, Jerry. The papers are separated by document type into to four categories; scrapbooks and travel, legal sized files, correspondence, and personal papers. The material is beneficial to anyone interested in the Woodland Family, United States tourist ephemera, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Richmond, Utah, or LDS missionary letters.

The first two boxes contain the travel and personal scrapbooks from Thelma Woodland, featuring trips to California, Yellowstone National Park, LDS church historical sites and other places across the United States. Also included are scrapbooks of the LDS Richmond Ward Primary and Mutual Improvement Association. Box three contains all the legal-sized contents of the Woodland family papers, including the contents of two scrapbooks and two farm ledgers. Boxes four, five, and six contain Woodland family correspondence, notably Jerry’s letters written during his service as a LDS missionary in Texas. The last box holds an assortment of personal papers from Reed and Thelma Woodland’s childhood, including many items from North Cache High School and the Richmond Ward.

Processing note: Many of the files were organized into binders prior to their donation to Special Collection and Archives. While these materials have been removed from the binders, original order and titles from these binders have been retained. Some materials from a single binder may have been divided among several folders.
