Scope and Contents

From the Series:

The materials include photographs and letters sent from Charmian London to Carrie London, who was Mrs. Jack J. London of London, England. Charmian and Carrie apparently met each other in the 1910s and and kept up a correspondence lasting after Jack’s death for about 20 years. In the letters, Charmian talks about life at the Ranch, her travels and some of her reflections and memories of Jack after his death in 1916. The materials contain eight photographs and 10 letters. Two of the photos are signed by both Jack and Charmian, with a third autographed portrait of Jack. The correspondence includes two handwritten manuscripts, three post cards, and five typed letters. The files are kept in one box and divided into two folders; one folder for the photos and one for the letters. The photos and letters are organized in the following order:
