Newspaper Clippings
Scope and Contents
This collection contains data regarding snow surveys in Utah collected by Randy Julander during his decades-long stint as Utah’s snow survey program manager. It contains reports, snow survey data, research, newspaper clippings, and radio addresses related to hydrology in Utah. Notable among the materials is “Snow Surveying in Relation to Forecasting Stream Flow: Its Problems and Their Present Phases” (Box 3, Fd 2), which Julander considers “the bible of snow hydrology.” Also included is research from Project 72, an Utah State Agricultural Experiment Station effort to understand the relationship between precipitation and runoff in a drainage area in order to better forecast stream discharge, mainly focusing on the Logan River watershed. It is likely that much of the collection was passed down to Julander from George Dewey Clyde, who is a prominent figure in the materials.
