Biographical / Historical

An association with the US Forest Service, the Utah Avalanche Forecast Center (UAC) was founded in 1980 with the purpose of educating Utahns about avalanches and safety measurements through avalanche awareness courses and events. With branches scattered throughout Utah, the UAC of Logan specifically concentrates on avalanche forecasts in mountain ranges located in and around Cache Valley, including southeastern Idaho. Avalanche forecasts are another essential component of the UAC Logan as they hold life-saving information for people seeking to perform activities in avalanche-prone locations. These forecasts consist of current weather conditions, potential exposures to avalanches, recent avalanches, danger ratings, and travel advice.
