This collection includes correspondence and documents kept by President Stan Albrecht in his general office files. Also included are files concerning government relations, Board of Trustees, and Board of Regents. Some files may be subject to restriction under federal and state privacy laws (GRAMA), and require permission to access.

Biographical Note

Stan LeRoy Albrecht was born July 13, 1942 near Fremont, Wayne County, Utah. He received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Brigham Young University in 1966, and both his masters and doctorate degrees in Sociology from Washington State University in 1968 and 1970, respectively. After completing his degrees he began his career as an assistant professor of sociology at Utah State University from 1970-1974, after which he served for 18 years at Brigham Young University (1974-1992). Dr. Albrecht served as an administrator and professor at the University of Florida from 1993-1998 before returning to Utah State University to serve as the dean of the College of HASS from 1998-2001. In 2001, Albrecht was selected as the executive vice president and provost at Utah State under President Kermit L. Hall and served in that position until becoming Utah State University’s 15th president on February 1, 2005. After twelve years at the helm, Dr. Albrecht announced his retirement from the presidency in February 2016. He was succeeded by former provost and executive vice president Dr. Noelle Cockett on October 26, 2016.

This collection contains the general office files of President Stan L. Albrecht.

Arrangement

General office files are arranged by year and alphabetically in series. College Departmental files are located at the end of each year as a separate series. Government, Trustees, and Regents files are a separate series up to the year 2007 and are then found alphabetically within each year's General Office files series.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was deposited into Special Collections and Archives from the President's office in 2016.
