Scope and Contents
The collection consists of David W. Peterson's master's thesis research notes which outline the events that occurred during the devastating fires in Yellowstone National Park in 1988. His notes include television, magazine and newspaper reports, interviews with people from the National Park Service and U. S. Forest Service, other national park and forest reports, fire management reports, as well as climate and environmental impacts from the fires. The collection is organized in several categories by type of material.

Biographical Note
David W. Peterson received his undergraduate degree in 1988 and an MA degree in history in 1990, both from Utah State University. He completed law school at the University of Utah in 1992 and as of January 2008, he was practicing law in New Mexico.
