Scope and Contents
This collection includes advertisements, proposals, and specifications of projects conducted within the United States Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, Reclamation Service. The projects held in this collection were within the western United States from 1904 until 1915.
The projects are numbered and arranged by their number. This collection is comprised of projects 1-298. There are some of these projects not included within this manuscript collection, specifically: 2-47, 53, 55, 103, 105, 114-115, 154, 156-157, 159, 161-164, 166-168, 170, 172, 174, 178-181, 183-188, 190-191, 195, 198-200, 202, 206, 210-213, 217-219, 235-238, 244-245, 247, 250-258, 267-268, 270-274, 276-279, 292, 294, and 297. Photographs were removed to photo collection P0104.

Historical Note
Bernard Alfred Etcheverry (1881-1954) was an instructor of civil engineering at the University of California from 1902-1903, and an associate professor of irrigation engineering from 1917 until his retirement. He was also an associate professor of civil engineering at the University of Nevada from 1903 to 1905 and an associate professor of irrigation engineering from 1905 to 1917. Additionally, Etcheverry was a consulting engineer for various projects in British Columbia, Washington, and California.
This collection of specifications and blueprints for water reclamation in the western United States was used as source material for Etcheverry's three volume book Irrigation Practice and Engineering, published by McGraw-Hill from 1915 to 1916. Photographs removed to photo collection P0104 were used to illustrate this publication.
