J. Arbon Christensen radio transcripts
Scope and Contents
This collection contains local history radio transcripts written by J. Arbon Christensen, which he broadcast from radio station KVNU in Logan. The broadcasts spanned 1960-1970. There are four boxes with approximately 30 folders in each and ten transcripts per folder. The transcripts are ordered numerically but do not follow a sequential time line. Each transcript discusses a different topic. Subject headings include topics such as Cache Valley, Indians, mining, temples and tabernacle, railroad, farming, bridges and canals, markets and stores, and the United Order and co-ops. The last five folders of Box 4 contain unnumbered transcripts and a miscellaneous paper on the history of the Huguenots.

Biographical Note
Born in 1904, J. Arbon Christensen has spent most of his life in Cache Valley. He is a retired schoolteacher with an extensive interest in local history. In 1960 he desired to share this interest with the public. After receiving approval from Reed Bullen, the manager of radio station KVNU in the 1960s, Christensen began broadcasting short, 10-15 minute stories about Cache Valley and other historical subjects twice a day at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The program lasted for ten years until 1970.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The papers in this collection were donated by J. Arbon Christensen. He wrote and broadcast each transcript for radio station KVNU during the 1960s and 1970s. The papers were donated to USU on March 4, 1996, with the help of Milton Abrams, the former director of Merrill Library.
