Utah Education Association Addendum
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of an addendum to Coll Mss 63: Utah Education Association Papers and spans the period of 1949 to 1990. The file system of the previous installment was followed in processing this collection. Box numbering in this collection continues from Coll Mss 63. The two files that did not fit the previous system were given file numbers. The first, which consists of the records of the Utah Council for the Improvement of Education, was given the file number of XVIII. The second, consisting of the Board of Trustees Action and Follow-up file, was given the file number XIX. File system numbers not included in this addendum are Files 5, 7-12, II, IV-VII, and XI-XVII.

Biographical Note
The Utah Education Association, originally called "The Deseret School Teachers' Association," was organized in 1860 "for the purpose of establishing a society for promoting the educational interests of the community." Today the Association's mission is to advance the cause of public education by promoting quality teaching and learning and advocating effectively for the rights and interests of its members.

Abstract
The organizational files of the Utah Education Association, including committee minutes and reports (1967-1985), Board of Trustee minutes and reports (1959-1982), information about legislative activities (1949-1960), UEA newsletters (1969-1985), records of the Utah Council for the Improvement of Education (1963-1970)
Arrangement
The UEA's records were arranged according to a "file system," that categorized by group and organized material into numerical and alphabetical order. Upon donation some materials within this file system were not received by Special Collections, including Files 5, 7-8, V-VII, and XI-XII.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The materials in this collection were transferred to USU Special Collections by the Utah Education Association in various batches between 1985 and 1993.
