This collection consists of Hal Glicksman’s address book. It contains his contacts from the California art scene during the 1960s and 1970s.

Biographical Note

Hal Glicksman was born in Beverly Hills, California, in 1937. He curated a number of key exhibitions in Southern California during the 1960s and 1970s, and helped establish several important Southern California art institutions. Glicksman's career began in at the Pasadena Art Museum, and he later served as Gallery Director and Assistant Professor at Pomona College, Associate Director of the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Director of the Art Gallery at the University of California, Irvine, and Art Gallery Director at Otis Art Institute. Beginning in 1981 he briefly ran his own gallery called Percept, which housed light and space art. Glicksman also helped found the Santa Monica Museum of Art in 1985, and served as the museum's first director.
