Scope and Contents
This collection contains the Western Literature Association’s conference papers, office correspondence of its journal Western American Literature, and scripts of plays performed in the WLA Readers Theater.
The collection was expanded in 2016 to include the 1999 and 2012 donations.

Historical Note
The Western Literature Association is a non-profit, academic organization established in 1965 to study the literature and cultures of the North American West. Since its founding, the association has held annual conferences across North America in which members present either creative or scholarly papers on Western subjects pertaining to the conference themes.
The WLA also publishes Western American Literature, which is the Association’s quarterly journal of Western essays and book reviews based at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Abstract
This collection contains conference papers, office correspondence, and scripts of plays from the Western Literature Association, an academic organization for literature and cultures of the North American West.

This collection is categorized by document type and arranged chronologically.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection consists of three donations. The first and second were given to USU Special Collections in 1981 and 1999 by the Western Literature Association. The remainder of the material was given in 2012 by the Western American Literature journal.
Processing Information
This collection was originally processed by John Lamborn in January 1982. Additional materials, donated in 1999 and 2012, were added by Bria Corry in November 2016.
