Biographical / Historical
“Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) is a full-service interlocal agency, that provides comprehensive wholesale electric energy services, on a non-profit basis, to community-owned power systems throughout the Intermountain West. The UAMPS membership represents 50 members from Utah, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico and Wyoming. UAMPS provides comprehensive energy services to its members, including planning, financing, developing, acquiring, constructing, operating and maintaining varied projects and transmission for the benefit of members. UAMPS currently operates 16 separate projects that provide power supply, transmission, and other services to the members who participate in them. Members choose which projects they participate in, based on their unique needs.” (Quoted from UAMPS’ website: https://www.uamps.com/)
Established under the Interlocal Cooperative Act to plan, finance, and operate electric power projects, UAMPS began in 1980 with twenty-one members located around Utah, such as the cities of Ephraim, Logan, and Morgan. The first project UAMPS entered into contract with was the Hunter Project, located in Emery County, Utah in 1981. Within the next ten years, UAMPS gained ten more members and contracted five other projects. One unique project during this time was the Member Generation Project launched in 1987. This project benefited UAMPS members by integrating member-owned generation into the Pool. In 1990, UAMPS adjusted their organizational agreements to create independent project boards to enhance the focus and process of each project. In 1992, UAMPS once again amended their organizational agreements to allow other states to become members. With this amendment, Fredonia, Arizona and Page Electric Utility in Page, Arizona joined UAMPS. Currently, UAMPS extends memberships to seven states located in the American West. In 1995, UAMPS acquired the administration functions of Intermountain Consumer Power Association (ICPA) after they dissolved.

Abstract
This collection contains papers and digital files related to the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) from 1957 to 2022 and the Intermountain Consumer Power Association (ICPA) from 1957 to 1999.
Arrangement
The UAMPS collection is arranged by board of directors meeting minutes, annual member and special member meeting minutes, committee meeting minutes, and projects meeting minutes. The papers are arranged chronologically within each section. Each Sub-Series is arranged by date that the meeting was held. The Sub-Series in series III, IV, and V are arranged in alphabetical order, and then the files are ordered chronologically. All documents were originally housed in bound binders or expanding file folders and are currently arranged in that same original order that they were received. Most of the audio materials in this collection are separated from the paper files, except three micro dictation cassettes, which are located in box 91, folder 4, and a Shoshone Energy/Idatherm presentation July 18, 2007 on a CD Rom, which is located in box 160, folder 23. These audio files are in these locations because they were originally housed within these paper files, unlike the other audio files. When applicable, each UAMPS project Sub-Series contains a description of the project. These descriptions derived from the UAMPS website, https://www.uamps.com/.
