The National Press Photographers Association Clip Contest collection
Scope and Contents
This photograph collection consists of 975 images (5 of which are cartoons) of the National Press Photographers Association's national clip contest. Included are various regional and national contest winners, many of whom received their training at Utah State University and worked at one time for local newspapers (such as Dan Miller and Peter Schropp). Although there are some photos from Canada, Haiti, and Honduras, most of the images are from Utah and the rest are from Idaho, Kansas, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. The images are mostly human interest and include sports, politics, accidents, recreation, fires, rodeos, education, natural disasters, and community events.
The photographs range in size from 5x7 through 11x14. They are primarily black and white, glossy prints. Sometimes more information is located on the verso side of the image.

Abstract
970 photographic images (and 5 cartoons) from the National Press Photographers Association's national clip contest. The images are mostly human interest and include sports, politics, accidents, recreation, fires, rodeos, education, policemen, natural disasters, and community events. Especially notable are several images of the 1983 Thistle, Utah, mudslide.
