Scope and Contents

The Cardon Family photograph collection consists of 155 images related to the Bluebird Restaurant and Bluebird Candy Company in Logan, Utah and the O.Guy Cardon family. Images show food preparation, banquets, candy-making, and displays and postcards. Also included are images of Merlin Olsen Park, the Logan LDS Temple, Joanie Jacobsen (head waitress at the Bluebird), and social functions and activities of the Logan Rotary and Country Club.

Historical Note

The Bluebird, a candy, ice cream and soda fountain store was founded in Logan, Utah in 1914 by O. Guy Cardon, M.N. Neuberger, and Julius Bergsjo. Originally located at 12 West Center Street, the Bluebird Resturant moved to a new building in 1923 at 19 North Main Street. The Bluebird manufactures its own candies at the Bluebird Candy Company located at 75 West Center Street.
