Biographical Note

Josey Barnes Wayman (1929-2012) grew up in Cache Junction, Utah and graduated from Utah State University in 1951. She started her career modeling fur coats, before moving into cooking and sewing shows and then to interview and talk shows in Utah. She then moved to California and worked as one of the first female executives for Avon. She married television newsman Tom Wayman (and divorced in 1975) and had three children, Jeffrey, Tomi, and Josanne. Wayman donated her time and money to a number of institutions including Utah State University, the Boys and Girls Club of America, and the Newport Harbor Art Museum.
