Scope and Contents

The Utah State University Student Fieldwork Collection: FIELDWORK consists of 18 projects collected by USU students in fulfillment of graded credit requirements for Folklore Colloquium course. Most items include accession sheet, release form, essay, journal, cassette-taped oral interview, tape transcription/log, and some contain photographs and/or slides. The projects are oral histories. Items are numbered by the year of the course (1981 or 1983) and an number for each student project. For example, FOLK COLL 8a: FIELDWORK 81-02, means that the item was submitted in 1981 and it is item 2 in that year. The items are stored in archival boxes. The materials do NOT circulate. Collection materials are in English.

Restrictions

Open to public research. To access the collection a patron must have the following information: collection number, box number, folder number and item number. The materials do not circulate and are available in USU's Special Collections and Archives. Patrons must sign and comply with the USU Special Collections and Archives Use Agreement and Reproduction Order form as well as any restrictions placed by the collector or informant(s).

It is the responsibility of the user to obtain permission to publish from the owner of the copyright (the institution, the creator of the record, the author or his/her transferees, heirs, legates, or literary executors). The user agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Utah State University Libraries, its officers, employees, and agents from and against all claims made by any person asserting that he or she is an owner of copyright.

Permission to publish material from the Utah State University student fieldwork collection must be obtained from the Curator of the Fife Folklore Archives and/or the Special Collections Department Head.

The Utah State University Student Fieldwork Collection consists of 18 USU student fieldwork projects from William A. Wilson's Folklore Colloquium Course: 1981 and 1983. The collection is closed.

Abstract

Early fieldwork projects conducted by Utah State University students in fulfillment of graded credit requirements for coursework in graduate folklore classes (1981-1983).

Each fieldwork collection is arranged chronologically. Collections include:

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Utah State University Student Fieldwork Collection: FIELDWORK is comprised of fieldwork conducted by USU students enrolled in the folklore courses taught by Professor William A. Wilson. The projects were deposited in the Fife Folklore Archives by the Professor Wilson.
