Charles A. Adam, Jr. WWII snapshots
Content Description
This collection contains snapshots from WWII (aerial, airplanes, servicemen portraits). Some of the photos are from France, Italy, and possibly Egypt. Also included are 1944 Time magazine article regarding "Invasion Money" with a 50 centime paper note from Morocco as an example, Christmas cards and postcards, an unidentified 8 mm film reel, leather name tags, and a few military documents. Lt. Adam was in the 311th Ferrying Squadron, 302nd Transport Wing, AAF station 384. The majority of the photographs have an "R" number on the reverse, possibily denoting items from a specific roll of film; very few have names or other identifying information. Photos have been placed in plastic protectors, with any duplicates having been separated and stored in paper envelopes. Many of these photographs have surnames printed on the back, but are more likely to be the individuals requesting copies of the photograph, and not necessarily the subject of the photograph itself.
Some of the names include: Brennan, Bruner, DeJonghe, Dempsey, Frenck, Gale, Garrard, Hawkins, Holste, Howard, Kennedy, Kent, King, Krant or Kraut, McLean, Miller, Mostyn, Norden, Palma or Palwa, Peterson, Pierce, Preston, Rehocks, Richards, Smith, Stilbel, Thomas, Walker, Walmsley, Wolfe.
