Biographical / Historical
Historically, Little Red Riding Hood was originally a story created by French author Charels Perrault with a lesson, warning young and little girls to not talk to strangers. As the story evolves over time (the Grimm Brothers for example), different messages and events have been incorporated within the story, however the underlying moral remains the same. Dr. Brenda Brayan-Broadbent (Zinskey) took interest in the many versions and ways that the story of Little Red Riding Hood influenced folk culture. She already had a passion for teaching children early in her career, and as she grew in her educational and academic career, so did the collection.
