Biographical / Historical
The North American Snowsports Journalists Association (NASJA) is a professional organization representing writers, photographers, broadcasters, podcasters, and communications professionals who cover skiing, snowboarding, Nordic sports, and winter mountain culture throughout North America. Founded in 1963 as the United States Ski Writers Association, the organization emerged as ski journalism expanded alongside the growth of ski resorts and competitive winter sports. In 1990, the organization adopted the name North American Snowsports Journalists Association to reflect its broader geographic reach and the expanding scope of winter sports media, including snowboarding and digital storytelling. Over the decades, NASJA has promoted snowsports journalism through annual meetings, professional networking, and awards recognizing outstanding writing, photography, broadcasting, and industry communications.
