The Donald T. Jensen papers primarily concern Jensen’s work as a consultant with the California-based firm, Continental Weather Services. Most of the material deals with weather records used for a Coast of California Storm and Tidal Wave Study, but also includes materials about general weather, Utah and Great Basin Soil Survey, Climate Data, and assorted files.

Biographical / Historical

Donald T. Jensen became State Climatologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Plants, Soils, and Biometeorology at Utah State University in 1990. Jensen obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah (1972) and Master and Doctoral degrees from Utah State University (1976/1978.) Jensen directed the Utah Climate Center, which mission was to collect, archive, analyze and distribute quality climatic data; research climate and its effects on living organisms; and provide Utah with information to improve the quality of life. Jensen retired in 2005.

Abstract

The Donald T. Jensen papers include materials about the Continental Weather Services Coast of California Storm and Tidal Wave Study, but also include general weather materials, Utah and Great Basin Soil Survey, Climate Data, and assorted files.

The collection has been organized geographically into four series to distinguish materials primarily related to California from those related to the Great Basin, Utah, and the interior West. I.
