Abstract

The Ranch Family Documentation Project: Oral Histories collection consists of 61 interviews with 78 ranchers from four Intermountain West counties: Elko County, Nevada; Box Elder County, Utah; Cache County, Utah; and Rich County, Utah. The interviews were conducted summer 2009-spring 2012.

The collection consists of 17 boxes of materials from Richmond’s history, dating from 1880 to 2009. It is divided into five categories: Richmond Preservation Society Papers; Family and Oral Histories; Richmond and Cache Valley History; Newspaper Clippings; Ephemera and Oversize Items.

The Smithfield Oral History Project contains 37 interviews with residents of Smithfield, Utah. The majority of interviews were conducted by Lawrence Cantwell. William "Robert" Thornley had the items digitized, transcribed, and printed by the Clark and Gladys Thornley Foundation. Abstract In 2010 the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter (Snyderville Basin, Park City, Utah) was donated to Utah State University, making it the largest gift in USU history. Known to native peoples as the “Hole in the Sky,” the preserve encompasses a 1,200 acre wildlife preserve and state of the art environmental education facility.
