Scope and Contents
Personal letters, certificates, blessings, and obituaries kept by Joseph John Richardson. Eight handwritten letters date from 1875-1911 and include as correspondents, his son & daughters, his wife, and Sylvester Low. The certificates and blessings relate to Richardson's positions held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Also includes 1975 newspaper clippings of obituaries of Laurina Richardson and Ella Anderson, a funeral program, a mimeographed poem "to mother from dad," and a handwritten paper "A sketch of the life of Eliza Laurina Harper Richardson, a pioneer of 1862" by her daughter-in-law, May L. Richardson. Joseph John Richardson (1870-1949), son of Joseph Richardson and Eliza Lavina Harper, served in the LDS Church as a missionary to the Indian Territory, in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania; and as a member of the Quorum of the Seventy.
