Samuel Rose Parkinson and Esther Chandler Parkinson (Franklin, Idaho) to My Dear Daughter and Sister, 1890 January 2
Scope and Contents
The collection is made up of letters sent to “Carrie” Parkinson dating from January 2, 1890 until January 17, 1891. These letters are being sent from “Carrie’s” mother, father, and sister, while “Carrie” is in “Rock Creek”. This is most likely Rock Creek, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis, where she is probably visiting her uncle and aunt, John and Sarah Berry Mckinney and their daughter Bell. The mention of “yellow flags” likely refers to a signal used to indicate that a house was under quarantine.
